  • How to refill your Joye 510 cartridge.

Refilling your Joye 510 cartridge is as simple as putting a few drops of liquid on to the filler material.  Drip on to the filler and watch the liquid get absorbed.  Once the filler is fully saturated (Don't let it pool, if it does, just put a paper towel to absorb the excess), insert the cartridge back on to the atomizer.  Many people like to put one or two drops of e-Juice directly onto the atomizer wick just to ensure that everything is moist.

Please note that the filler has a limited lifespan.  If the filler material gets burnt, it needs to be replaced.  If you are a budget is an issue, you can purchase poly fill from Walmart or fish tank filter material from the pet shop to use as filler.  One package of this should last you a lifetime.  If you would rather purchase new cartridges, consider these flat tip cartridges .

  • Electronic Cigarette Total Cost of Ownership

The most frequently asked question I get is how much does it cost to use an electronic cigarette?

This answer is quite easy, and I think you will be pleased.  The first step in the ecig adventure is buying your first starter kit.  Along with the starter kit you will typically purchase some e-juice to go along with it so that you can refil your own carts (Refilling your own carts is very cost effective).  So let us break it down into initial purchase, then subsequent for when you are in need of refil or spare parts.

These prices are estimates, you may find higher or lower prices depending on what model you buy and what vendor you choose to purchase from.

    Month 1:  Starter Kit $60, 30ml e-Juice $15.95.  Total $75.95

    Month 2:  30ml e-Juice $15.95, 1 replacement atomizer $12.  Total  $27.95

    Month 3:  30ml e-Juice $15.95, 1 replacement atomizer $12, 1 spare battery $18 .  Total $45.95

    Month 4:  30ml e-Juice $15.95.  Total $15.95

    Month 5:  30ml e-Juice $15.95, pack of empty cartridges $5.95, 2 spare atomizers $24.  Total $45.90

    Month 6:  30ml e-Juice $15.95.  Total $15.95

The total over 6 months is $227.65

Let's compare the 6 month total of electronic cigarette smoking to that of traditional tobacco smoking.  Let's assume that each pack of cigarettes costs $6.00 USD.

    Month 1:  30 packs of cigarettes $180.

    Month 2:  30 packs of cigarettes $180.

    Month 3:  30 packs of cigarettes $180.

    Month 4:  30 packs of cigarettes $180.

    Month 5:  30 packs of cigarettes $180.

    Month 6:  30 packs of cigarettes $180.

Total cost of cigarettes smoking over 6 months is $1080.

Traditional tobacco = $1080      Electronic Cigarette smoking =  $227.65    That is a difference of $852.35.  Could you use an extra $852.35 ?  Thats over $100 per month saved!

  • Joye 510 Electronic Cigarette: Popular choice.

Many people wonder why the Joye 510 with manual battery has become such a popular electronic cigarette.  The reasons are simple.

    1. Similar in size to a real cigarette.
    2. The manual batery gives the user more control with no cut off of power.
    3. Consistant vapor production.
    4. Great price/Value.

The main complain on the Joye 510 is that the battery life is short.  This means that you need to carry spare batteries with you, or you can simply carry a Personal Charging Case, also known as the PCC.

  • Joye 510: First steps out of the box.

So your Joye 510 arrived today, you are removing all of the items from the little white box.  Making sure it is all there, 2 batteries, 2 atomizers, cartridges, power charger, and manual.  What do you do now?  If you are like most, reading the manual is not the first thing you want to do!  So, I have read the manual for you and will rush to the main points.

    1.  Charge one of the batteries for a full 8 hours.
    2. Use for 20 minutes.
    3. Charge that battery for another hour.
    4. Done, your rechargeable lithium ion battery is now ready for optimal usage.

    Further explanation....

After 8 hours has passed, use your newly charged atomizer by assembling your ecig.  Simply connect the atomizer to the fully charged battery.  Connect your cartridge that is filled with e-juice.  Now vape for about 20 minutes.  Then charge the battery for 1 more hour.  Thats it!  Your battery is now prepared to take on the task of powering your ecig!

  • Tobacco-Specific Carcinogens Found in Nicotine Replacement Products

To all potential and current consumers, this appears to be skewed and does not paint the whole picture,  Do your homework, ecigs may not be 100% safe, but tobacco is a proven killer.  We are already killing ourselves, ecigs seem to have the potential to be less harmful - Only time will tell, but anecdotal evidence is promising.  It is also important to note that the FDA only tested two manufacturers of ecigs, they do not represent the entire industry.

Per the FDA, "The FDA’s Division of Pharmaceutical Analysis analyzed the ingredients in a small sample of cartridges from two leading brands of electronic cigarettes. In one sample, the FDA’s analyses detected diethylene glycol, a chemical used in antifreeze that is toxic to humans, and in several other samples, the FDA analyses detected carcinogens, including nitrosamines. These tests indicate that these products contained detectable levels of known carcinogens and toxic chemicals to which users could potentially be exposed."

For the rest of the story and commentary please read the article found at the below link:

  • Electronic Cigarettes appeal to children? Give me a break.

Some recent articles appearing in big newspapers were concerned that ecigs could be potentially appealing to children.  This was due to the fact that nicotine juice comes in many flavors, including mint, cherry, chocolate, etc.  Well I got news for you.  You can go to any liquor store and buy chocolate, raspberry, cherry, vanilla, strawberry, espresso, Vodka!  I have seen various RUM come in flavors like Banana and Coconut.  So, does this mean that alcohol is being marketed to kids and will appeal to children?  Newsflash, ecigs, just like alchol, is being marketed to ADULTS.

  • FDA: Electronic Cigarette

A recent press release from the FDA indicated that their testing discovered levels of tobacco-specific nitrosamines, or TSNA's.  TSNA's are also found in other nicotine replacement therapies (Nicorette gum, nicotine gum, snus, chewing tobacco).  What is alarming is the fact that the FDA has done no comparisons to these other products to give the consumer the ability to decide for themselves if ecigs are for them.  First of all, tobacco is a proven killer.  TSNA's are found in nicotine gum.  Why is it that the FDA has zero problems with the known killer, but a big problem with a product with TSNA's.  It wouldn't be so bad if the other NRT's had zero TSNA's, but they do.   There are carcinogens in many many products.  We would rather them not exist, but they do.  However, electronic cigarettes APPEAR to be a lot less hazardous than tobacco.  Since ecigs have not been around for that long (A few years), there is limited data regarding their safety.  We as consumers, choose what to ingest, what to inhale, and what skin care products to put on our bodies.  The world is full of toxic chemicals, which I'm sure we ingest daily.  We would like to reduce this threat as much as possible.  Since ecigs are marketed towards CURRENT TOBACCO USERS over the age of 18, isn't it safe to assume that ecigs are not any more toxic, but perhaps less toxic?  I am of the belief that if you can get off of traditional tobacco, you will be better off.  However, FDA is only painting the picture in one light.  They are focusing on this one products without comparing it to the alternative - Yes, TOBACCO.  Please FDA, at least do some more research on this.  Traditional tobacco is a proven killer, ecigs are a newer technology with a lot of potential.  Ecigs, just like nicorette gums and patches all have their associated risk profile.  Educate the public, don't scare them.

  • Nicotine Withdrawal Symptoms

It wouldn't be so difficult to quit smoking cigarettes if it werent for the horrible withdrawal symptoms. I personally had a much harder time with the physical addiction than with mental one. Here are some withdrawal symptoms from nicotine.

    Cravings to smoke
    Irritable, cranky
    Inability to Concentrate
    Sore throat
    Constipation, gas, stomach pain
    Dry mouth
    Sore tongue and/or gums
    Postnasal drip
    Tightness in the chest
    Cold sweats at night

All of this translates into a very miserable time.  The individual may experience one or more of the above symptoms.  The ones that are very concerning to me are the inability to sleep and the depression.  The others are also very concerning.

  • Electronic Cigarette Terminology

E-cig , E-cigarette, ecig, pv, personal vaporizor - They all are names for electronic cigarette.

Pull - The act of sucking on the mouthpiece to pull the vapor into your mouth.

Throat hit, or TH - The sensation felt from the vapor on the back of your throat. Typically, this simulates the same sensation as smoking a traditional cigarette.

Vapor - the "smoke" emitted from an electronic cigarette. It is not actually smoke though. It is vaporized liquid. E-Liquid contains propylene glycol and other ingredients.

Vape or Vaping - The use of an e-cigarette (ecig, e-cig, electronic cigarette, personal vaporizor, pv)

Topping off - The act of adding drops of e-liquid (e-juice) to your cartridge. This is necessary so that your atomizer does not go dry. A dry atomizer will lead to failure so it is strongly suggested that you keep your carts (cartridges) topped off.

Dripping - Adding drops of e-juice directly on to the atomizer. Many people prefer this method to topping off their carts. When you drip, you are required to drip more frequently than if you were topping off your cartridges.

Dipping - Placing the bridge of the atomizer in directly into the e-juice. This cannot be done with all devices as the atomizer bridge is recessed too far to make this practicle.

    Atty, atz - Atomizer.

    Bat - Battery.

    Cart - Cartridge.

Cutoff - A protective measure encompassed within the battery that prevents excessive heating of the atomizer. Typical cutoff time is 5 seconds.

Filler, wool, poly fill - The fiber found inside your cartridge that holds your e-juice.

PCC - Personal charging case, personal carrying case.

PT - Passthrough or passthrough battery. Also may be called pass through. A device that connects the the USB port on the computer which gives the atomizer its power. No battery needed.

    PG - Propylene glycol.

    VG - Vegatable glycerine.

e-Juice, e-liquid, smoke juice - The liquid nicotine used to fill and top off your carts.
