The bilberry has gone by many names over the years, these include blaeberry hurts, whinberry, winberry, windberry, wimberry, myrtle blueberry (not to be confused with the common blueberry which is a different, yet related species) and fraughan.
Most interestingly, these berries were called black-hearts in 19th century south-western England.
